ERUDiTE Presented at the German Congress for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy
In March 2026, the ERUDiTE project was presented at the German Congress for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, held in Berlin from 4–6 March 2026.
The congress is the annual national meeting of the German Society for Psychosomatic Medicine and Medical Psychotherapy (DGPM) and the German College of Psychosomatic Medicine (DKPM), the leading scientific organizations in the field of psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy in Germany. It is one of the leading scientific forums for psychosomatic research, education, and clinical practice in the German-speaking region, bringing together clinicians, researchers, educators, and healthcare professionals each year.
The poster presentation generated considerable interest and stimulated lively discussions among participants. Particular attention was paid to the project’s innovative approach to empathy assessment and training, its international collaboration across European partner institutions, and its focus on digital learning environments. The congress provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from psychosomatic medicine, psychotherapy, medical education, and related healthcare disciplines. Feedback received during the discussions highlighted the growing relevance of empathy-focused training in healthcare education and contributed valuable perspectives for the further development and dissemination of the project.

The Art of Communication in Medical Practice Conference
On February 14, 2025, during the conference “The Art of Communication in Medical Practice” at the University Emergency Hospital in Bucharest, Prof. Dr. Ovidiu Popa-Velea (project manager) shared information about the ERUDITE project (objectives, targets, benefits). The project presentation was made within the oral communication entitled “The Empathy-Self-Compassion Balance and Its Implications in Medical Practice”.
ERUDiTE project at the Conference of the Romanian Association of Free Psychiatrists (APLR)
At the 3rd Conference of the Romanian Association of Free Psychiatrists (APLR) (Bucharest, October 21st-22nd), the ERUDiTE Project Manager Prof Dr Ovidiu Popa-Velea presented the oral communication entitled “Empathy fatigue and lack of self-compassion – causes, psychosomatic consequences, remedies”. During the talk, the speaker informed about the objectives and current outcomes of the ERUDiTE project, with a special focus on the Empathy Manual.
ERUDiTE Project Presented at the 13th Edition of the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Congress
On Friday, October 24th, 2025, the intellectual outputs realized so far in the Erasmus+ ERUDiTE Project – Empathy Rising in Universities through Digital Tools & Education were presented during the Congress of the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest.
The two speakers, Prof. Dr. Ovidiu Popa-Velea, Project Director, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liliana Diaconescu, member of the research team, introduced the project’s framework, current results, and upcoming milestones. The session also showcased the Empathy Manual and exposed potential implications of the Project in the education process of medical students and allied-health professions.
The event highlighted ERUDiTE’s mission to integrate digital tools into empathy training and to promote empathy as a core transversal competence in academic and clinical contexts.

The Empathy Manual: Empathy Manual
The ERUDiTE Project was presented at the University of Cyprus Computer Science Workshop
On February 28, 2026, a Computer Science workshop was held at the University of Cyprus. Approximately 150 students from various high schools in Cyprus attended the workshop, which began at 10 a.m. and ended late in the afternoon.
During the workshop, students had the opportunity to visit various research laboratories, one of which was the SEIT laboratory, which is part of the ERUDITE project.
Members of the SEIT team presented the ERUDiTE project to the audience and were informed about the purpose of the project and the role of the University of Cyprus in it.
